before booking
Placement is done under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during it. Afterwards, expect soreness and some swelling for a few days. Most people manage with ordinary painkillers. If you are anxious, say so at your consultation and we will talk through the options.
That depends on your bone, your gums and your general health, which is what the assessment is for. Implants need enough bone to hold them and healthy gums around them. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and some medications affect healing. Nobody can answer this over the phone.
There are usually options, and the CBCT scan is how we find out before you commit. Bone augmentation, sinus lifting and gum grafting are all done here, so a shortage of bone does not rule you out. It does change the timeline and the cost, and you hear that at the assessment.
Several months, not several weeks. The implant needs time to integrate with the bone before your final teeth are fitted, and rushing that stage is what causes failures. Your timeline depends on how many teeth are involved and whether grafting is needed. You get it in writing.
In most cases no, but this is decided case by case. Temporary teeth are provided where it is clinically appropriate. Whether that is possible for you depends on how stable the implants are once placed, which is not something anyone can promise before surgery.
A well-maintained implant can last many years, and plenty last decades. It is not fit-and-forget: implants need cleaning, regular reviews and healthy gums, the same as natural teeth. Neglected implants fail, and you should hear that now rather than later.
